Lawmaker gives N hell over provinces' issue

BAHAWALPUR - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has been exposed by passing a resolution in the Punjab Assembly against the commission constituted for the creation of new provinces and restoration of Bahawalpur province, a PPP lawmaker said. MPA Shah Rukh Malik while addressing a press conference said if the PML-N leadership was sincere to the people of Bahawalpur and Southern Punjab, why the PA speaker did not give the names of two members for completion of the commission. "If they have any objection regarding the commission, they should hold discussion with the PPP to resolve them instead of boycotting it. He termed Sharif brothers production of a dictator. He said that their personality has two faces one in the assemblies and the other in the people. "They are hoodwinking the nation on the issue of Bahawalpur province.  They are getting the shelter of establishment and the judiciary against the PPP-led government," he said. "I was nominated for the commission's member by President Zardari and Raja Riaz, the leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly, and my name was suggested to be forwarded but the Punjab Assembly speaker has not so far sent it. Our opponents are blaming us that we are not willing to restore Bahawalpur province which is not right. We did not believe in hollow slogans and tall claims but in actions. Insha'Allah, we will create new province because it is wish of the people of the area," he said. The MPA observed that the real power is public. "We have the agenda of people's welfare and we will win the election on the basis of this agenda," he added. He also criticised the Daanish Schools System, saying that a huge amount had been spend on the project. He said that the Punjab government was allotting the Cholistan lands to outsiders and depriving the local people in this regard. Commissioner review uplift projects: Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Khan Khichi said that the Punjab Chief Minister had approved Bahawalnagar-Arifwala dual carriageway which will be completed at a cost of Rs5.8 billion. Addressing a meeting here the other day, the commissioner said that the government was taking effective steps to ensure transparency and public feedback would be welcomed to raise standard and quality of service delivery.He warned that unnecessary delay in the execution of development projects would not be tolerated, adding that work order must be issued after within three days of the tendering process.The Commissioner directed completion of Haroonabad-Bahawalnagar Road, Bahawalnagar-Chistian Road and Hasilpur Road at the earliest.The meeting was apprised that the restoration and renovation of Bahawalnagar Wildlife Park will be completed by next month with Rs60 million. Similarly, Rs115.4 million for Girls College Minchanabad, Rs72 million for Postgraduate College Chistian and Rs50 million for Degree College Haroonabad has been reserved in the budget for current fiscal year to provide better education facilities to local students.Moreover, at another meeting, Muhammad Khan Kitchi reviewed recovery of government dues. He was informed that a target of Rs693.40 million had been set for the current financial year of Rs75.282 million had been recovered so far.The Commissioner also visited to the site of DHQ Hospital's under construction Emergency block which is being completed with Rs185.650.
