LAHORE - A delegation of the auto engineering sector under the Umbrella of Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers, has left for Frankfurt to attend the Automechanika Fair being held from Sept 11 to 16 in Germany.

As many as 52 members will be part of the official delegation, whilst 26 exhibitors from 13 members companies of PAAPAM will be exhibiting at the event. The Pakistani exhibitors are hoping to fetch big orders running into millions of dollars as the follow up of the event, also will be meeting existing clients. The delegation will be studying and calculating their future potential at the mega event. The Association is scheduled to meet with different international counterpart associations, fair organizers and major technology & raw material providers present at the event.

PAAPAM Chairman Syed Nabeel Hashmi, while addressing the delegates and exhibitors at a Pre-Departure Session held at head office, said that participation is part of the association’s strategy to introduce international markets to its members, providing them an opportunity to forge new alliances and business ventures, besides introducing the world a true commercial and manufacturing diversity of Pakistani companies. He said that Automecanika Frankfurt is the largest exhibition of Europe for Auto Parts and caters the entire European market. “We plan to enhance our exports and exceed the $120 million barrier (current share of the sector) this year,” he added.

The Automechanika Frankfurt Germany fair is one of the most successful trade fair brands of Messe Frankfurt. It is the meeting place for the sector and renowned for third-country business. The Automechanika presents the entire process chain in the automotive aftermarket, from point-of-sale, via services, to recycling and waste disposal. As the world’s biggest trade fair for the automotive aftermarket, it spotlights innovations and solutions in the fields of parts, systems, tuning, workshop equipment, bodywork & paintwork, car wash, IT & Management and the latest automobile services.

“This is the biggest auto show in Europe and the authority should make intense measures to increase the participation of our sector by 100%”. The chairman noted that Pakistan should target increasing participation in these important events and desired that TDAP must enhance its support to the engineering sector.

PAAPAM’s incoming vice chairman Usman Malik who is also part of the delegation stated that we need to take over 100 exhibitors to these type of events. Pakistan can make a mark in the international arena only when Pakistan is also recognized as an international engineering destination.
