LAHORE – Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz said on Saturday that the PPP would not move the court of law to ensure the holding of local government polls in Punjab before the upcoming general elections.
While talking to the media, Raja said the delay in the holding of the local bodies’ polls was an infringement of Supreme Court directions passed months ago and wondered why the PML-N, which boasted of respecting judicial verdicts, was not implementing this decision of the apex cvourt.
Answering a question, Raja said he himself will be mover of the petition before the Supreme Court to make Punjab hold the local bodies’. He said the Punjab government was acting arbitrarily and it would not be pardoned for violating public rights. “The PPP has moved a requisition for the Punjab Assembly session wherein the party would raise the issues of local bodies’ elections and Southern Punjab,” he added.
