LAHORE – PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while rejecting the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2012, announced on Saturday his party’s support to the strike of the Sindh Bachao Committee scheduled for September 13.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at party office on Saturday.

Qureshi maintained that the Ordinance had laid the foundations for administrative and political divide within Sindh, while the majority of the members of the Sindh Assembly had consensus on the issue.

He said the Sindh government should have made an effort to pass a bill on the local government with consensus and avoided the shortcut. He stated the people of Sindh were waiting to see who was the real Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq, and the sitting PPP government would not desist from selling Sindh to prolong its corrupt rule.

The PTI leader said the president has no business interfering in the affairs of the local bodies’ elections, while the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2012 had serious implications, because this might prove to be first step towards the division of Sindh.
