Ten persons including a woman and a minor were killed in different incidents of enmity and mishaps over the past 24 hours.

According to details, at least two persons died while another got injured in a traffic accident near Sumandri Bypass Sunday morning.

According to sources, the mishap occurred due to negligence of the driver who could not have a grip over his vehicle and ravaged two ill-fated persons namely Rizwan and Abdul Khaliq who were standing there while their cousin Shahabuddin sustained injuries and was rushed to Allied Hospital. Police have arrested the driver vehicle and registered a case against him.

In HAFIZABAD, two persons were killed in two different incidents here on Sunday.

According to rescue source, Babar Ali of Mailoana who used to bore tube wells had left his village usually but could not returned to his house. Ultimately his parents and relatives went from pillar to post to trace him. His body was, however, spotted by them on the bank of Jhang Branch Canal near Punj Pullah Bridge. There were visible signs of violence and apparently he was tortured to death by unidentified accused. The motive of the offence could not be ascertained. The Kaleke Police are investigating.

Another Muhammad Nawaz of Attaranwali village had left his house and proceeded to his in-law's house two days back.

The other night he went missing and his family members searched him here and there and found his dead body hanging with a tree in the nearby field.

The motive behind the death could not be ascertained as yet.  The dead bodies have been sent to morgue for autopsy. Police are investigating.  In another incident, a minor girl was killed on the spot while her sister was seriously injured when a recklessly driven bike hit them on Lahore Road near Sukheke Sunday afternoon.

According to police, 5-year-old Meherun Nisa and her younger sister Anam (3 years) of Mohallah Noorpura Sukheke, were attempting to cross the road when a young bike rider hit them mercilessly. They were rushed to RHC Sukhke Mandi where Meherun Nisa breathed her last after few hours later while Anam was referred to Lahore hospital in critical condition. The bike rider managed to escape after the mishap. The Sukheke Police have registered a case against unidentified bike rider.

Similarly in TOBA TEK SINGH, a man and his son were killed while four others injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them here on Sunday.

According to police, the gunmen opened fire when the victims identified as Abdul Rasheed and his son Waris Jan, were sitting outside their house in village Chak 520/GB. The injured were their guests, the sources said.

Police started searching for the killers and shifted the bodies and injured to hospital.

Whereas, a woman Rukhsana Bibi died while her two daughters and a relative woman were injured when a fire broke out in her house situated in Nishat Colony in Gojra the other night. The fire broke out due to a gas leakage as a result of Rukhsana Bibi, her daughters - Laiba and Sonia and a relative woman Abida Bibi sustained critical burns. They shifted Gojra THQ Hospital from where doctors referred them to Allied Hospital Faisalabad where Rukhsana died while condition of all other three women was stated to critical.

Meanwhile, in SHEIKHUPURA, two people, reportedly brothers, were shot dead when their rivals in an attempt to take possession of a disputed land opened fire in village Umer Kot here on Sunday. According to details, two brothers namely Murad Ali and Asghar Ali had land dispute with their cousins including Zafar, Muneer and Naveed. On Sunday the cousins, armed with automatic weapons, rushed to the disputed land and try to take possession. On putting resistance by the brothers, they opened fire killing Asghar and Murad instantly. The Khanqah Dogran Police have started investigation against Zafar, Muneer and Naveed.
