LAHORE - Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday said he had no differences with the army.

Talking to senior media persons at midnight at Bilawal House in Lahore, he said there was no harm if peace returned to the country as a result of talks with Taliban. He announced that the PPP office-bearers would be replaced within three months.

Zardari, who was talking to senior media persons for the first time after leaving the presidency and successfully completing his five-year term, said: “The survival of PPP and PML-N lies in democracy.”

He said: “I accept mistakes of Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. I did not think that the apex court will disqualify Yousuf Raza Gilani. The day I entered the Presidency was the happiest. The Jeay Bhutto slogan chanted by Aseefa Bhutto echoed everywhere on this occasion.”

Answering a question, Zardari said Pervez Mushararf should not have come to Pakistan; it was his mistake. Now his departure depended upon the court orders. He said Pakistan would also be affected by what was happening in Syria.

Answering another question, he said there was no other way except executing Gawadar and Pak-Iran gas pipeline accords as the two projects were important for the country’s economy. He also underlined the need for reconstituting Election Commission of Pakistan.
