Islamabad - Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Patron in chief Senator Dilawar Abbas comes down hard on some certain quarters who are lobbying in Inter Provincial Coordination Ministry for appointing ad-hoc body on PTF.

While talking to The Nation on Sunday Dilawar Abbas, who is also the vice president of Asian Tennis Federation, said such undemocratic and unsporting activities must not be encouraged as they are not loyal to sports. The elections of PTF are due next year, the best way of taking revenge from the persons who had not worked properly for the promotion of sports is by casting ballot against him or her, he added.

“It makes no sense of advocating ad hoc on the PTF as almost three years of current presidents tenure are over and he is due to announce elections in next couple of months. If he had not done enough for tennis activities, he will get the boot in the coming elections. But as the former president of the federation no body expect me to favour any such unconstitutional and uncalled for moves. I will stand by Kaleem Imam if any such move occurs.”

He said due to poor law and order situation international teams and players are unwilling to travel to Pakistan and the government must address this issue. Senator Dilawar said Prime minister should also announce establishing special funds for the promotion of sports, which would help the players in lifting their standard. He said government must have to act amicably to resolve the long standing dispute of Pakistan Olympic Association and the prevailing situation require immediate action to avoid IOC ban.
