The husband of a member of the Punjab Assembly was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Samanabad, police said on Monday.

Mian Qadeer Ahmed, 70, was lying dead on the upper portion of his house in Sharif Colony as the police investigators reached the crime scene. Police said they also recovered some bottles of syrup from the spot.  The PML-N MPA, Shahzadi Shameem Akhtar, told the police that her husband was allegedly poisoned to death by unidentified men. The man was lying dead on the upper portion as the family members came back home after attending a wedding ceremony. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy. Further investigation was underway.

CM takes notice 

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the murder of PML-N MPA Shamim Akhtar’s husband and sought a report from the Inspector General Police.

The chief minister directed that culprits involved in the murder should immediately be arrested and the case be investigated thoroughly. He sympathised with Shamim Akhtar and expressed deep sorrow and grief over her husband’s death. 

Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of father of Muhammad Moin, Nawa-i-Waqt staffer. 

In a condolence message, the chief minister prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
