LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has welcomed the Supreme Court historic order for the enforcement of Urdu language, terming it as most auspicious moment for entire nation.
In a statement, Siraj said the JI had been struggling for the enforcement of Urdu for years and had also observed Urdu Day last week. The Supreme Court’s decision represented the sentiments of the masses, he added.
Sirajul Haq hoped the country would soon have its identity in the world. He urged the federal and provincial governments, the armed forces and civil bureaucracy to implement the apex court decision in letter and spirit.
“The Cabinet division and the Establishment Division should begin the implementation of the order without any let or hindrance,” he said and added the nation would not tolerate any delay in this respect.
The JI chief said the competitive examinations should be held in the national language and all correspondence in offices should be made in Urdu.
