Peshawar - Pedestrians facing problems on inundated streets, several motorists trying to handle their broken down cars amid flood, and shopkeepers trying to remove rainwater from their shops. Wednesday’s rain exposed the inefficiency of the civic authorities in the provincial capital.

While the rain shower turned the weather pleasant, various roads in the provincial capital turned into pools. Also, the rains always cause trouble to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations, which get loads of floodwater, causing problems to people.

Employees of the Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) were seen working to clear the drains, which got choked in Kakshal, Kohat Road and several other areas while motorists and pedestrians faced difficulties to pass through the flooded roads in several areas.

People were seen facing problems at the BRT Station in Hashtnagri due to the rainwater and were heard cursing the public representatives as rains create trouble at this station most often.

A spokesman for TransPeshawar said the company was pumping out the rainwater from the station and requested the pedestrians to use the overhead bridge as the rainwater was flowing into the BRT station.

The Chungi Chowk near Kohat Road had also turned into a pond while Kohati locality, as usual, was having floodwater resembling a canal.

Also, water overflowed from a drain near Rahman Bab Bridge on Ring Road. Drains in other parts along Ring Road are often uncovered, in which people often throw the garbage, blocking it and later turning into drainage problem when it rains.

Streets in Nauthia, interior city, and other parts were also having rainwater, creating problems for both pedestrians and motorists. Also, Surey Pul (bridge) and Bacha Khan Chowk got inundated after the shower as usual.
