Fashion Week hits Islamabad ramp today

ISLAMABAD  – The much-awaited event of a Fashion Week in the federal capital will start from today (April 10) with three-day fashion shows featuring international and local fashion industry.
The second edition of Islamabad Fashion Week (IFW) will capture the attention of fashion lovers of the twin cities and introduce the concept of haute couture by providing opportunity to establish and upcoming designers, models, choreographers, fashion writers and photographers.
The event will showcase leading Pakistani fashion retail brands as well as pret designers to an audience comprising both the international and local buyers. Highly recognisable international fashion retail brands will also participate and showcase their latest collection at IFW, seeking to forge local partnerships and franchise outlets in Pakistan.
Female and male models from the first Edition of the fashion week will participate with some new models scouted from Lahore. Twenty collections will be showcased over the three-day period averaging seven shows per day with representation of leading styles through designers from all three of Pakistan’s major cities, Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore including both senior designers and emerging talent.
Fashion institutions from across the country are participating in the show including Fashion Era, Institute of Art and Design Lahore, Gujranwala Institute of Fashion Technology (GIFT) and Iqra University.
Established brands like Lakhany Silk Mills, Element Jeans, Danish Wakeel (UK) and Pakistani designers like Arslan, Yahseer, Jazib Qamar, Shaiyanne Malik, Umar Sayeed, Ali Zeeshan, Fahad Hussain, Munib Nawaz and many other emerging names will showcase their talent. “Fashion weeks are a perfect way to showcase and promote textiles, casual and formal wear, leather, footwear, and other fashion-related products in local and international markets,” said the organisers while talking to APP here Monday.
These fashion events not only promote the countries’ finished products export, but strengthen the countries’ fashion related cottage industries. “The IFW will serve as aa fashion and trade event that facilitates trade and garners exposure for our international guests as well as highlighting our local talent,” the organisers said.
The three-day, high profile fashion extravaganza will showcase leading international and regional fashion designers and brands, through fashion runway shows and multimedia presentations. This event will adhere to the international standards with an emphasis on trade. The event has been organised by Excellent Event and Entertainment (Triple-E) in association with the International Pakistan Fashion Council (IPFC); World Fashion Organisation (WFO) and Europa Regina. The Creative Consultant for the event is veteran hair and make-up stylist Tariq Amin and the choreographer is veteran, Pomme Gauhar.
