Two heavy head-money gangsters shot dead


LAHORE – Two most-wanted gangsters, carrying head-money worth Rs 5 million each, have been killed during a ‘police encounter’ in Sheikhupura region, police sources revealed late on Monday night.
Police said that the gangsters, later identified as Kahif alias Kashi and Shehzad alias Shehzado, were gunned down during an encounter near Khan-Kah-Dogran on Monday night. The police have also arrested another most-wanted gangster, identified as Peero. Police said that the gangsters were involved in several cases of killings, armed robberies and kidnapping for ransom and they had become a symbol of terror in the entire area.
According to the an official handout issued in this regard, the police signalled the gangsters to stop at a police picket but they opened fire at the police, triggering an encounter.
As a result, Kashif alias Kashi and Shahzad were killed during the crossfire while their accomplice Peero was arrested. The police have removed the bodies to the morgue for an autopsy and are investigating.
Police sources said that a major crackdown against the most wanted gangsters involved in kidnapping businessmen for ransom has been launched across the Punjab province on the orders of the Inspector General of Police Haji Habib-ur-Rehman.
The gangsters, killed in the encounter, were also involved in kidnapping of the businessmen and the industrialists for ransom.
