RAWALPINDI - The second round of changing of police officers ahead of general elections 2013 continued on Tuesday as a total of 68 police officers of Inspector ranks have been reshuffled in the region.
The newly appointed Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sheikh Nasimuz Zaman transferred the 68 police officers of inspector ranks in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum.
Among the 68 police officers of inspector ranks, two officers, who had been very close to former RPO Capt (Retd) Muhammad Zubair, managed to get postings of their choice.
The outgoing former RPO Capt (Retd) Muhammad Zubair has shown his work a day before leaving his office by transferring two of his blue-eyed inspectors, Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station (PS) City Mirza Yusaf and SHO PS Airport Malik Rafaqat, at Regional Investigation Bureau (RIB) to help them stay in stay Rawalpindi other then to be send in other districts.
By taking this unprecedented step, former RPO not only violated the rules of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) but also thrown the strict orders of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Aftab Sultan that were simple “To not transfer any of official in the district”.
On the other hand, four officers of SP ranks, who had not been either transferred or posted, are said to be worried after they found that the better vacant posts had been filled already by the caretaker Punjab government. They also feared that they might be thrown to restive regions such as Balochistan.
The four Superintendents of Police (SPs) included SP Potohar Division Haroon Joya, SP Rawal Division Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif, SP Saddar Circle Waheed-ur-Rehman Khattak and SP CIA Rana Shahid.
According to sources, all the posts of SHOs in the police stations have been laying vacant and newly appointed CPO Abdul Razzaq Cheema, who assumed his charge, would appointed the new SHOs today (Wednesday).
