KMDC closed over rift between teaching, non-teaching staff

KARACHI   -  Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) run by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) was closed on Friday on temporarily basis over a rift between teaching and non-teaching staff.

The KMDC administration also closed the dental hospital and administration block after threats and harassments of senior faculty members and house officers from lower staff. The lower staff was on protest and boycott of duties since couple of days for payment of one month salary and implement of 10 percent rise in increment. The lower staff tried to convince KMDC administration and faculty members to boycott OPDs as well; however, faculty members refused to do so. As a result, lower staff misbehaved with senior faculty members, lady doctors and house officers during OPDs hours.  On the other hand, lower staff from grade-1 to 16 strongly condemned the closure of KMDC and Dental Hospital.

They demanded of the Provincial Minister for Local Government Sindh Nasir Hussain Shah to take action against biased KMDC executive committee members over their anti-employees polices.
