KARACHI - All arrangements have been finalised in Karachi to facilitate the participants of processions and Central Majlis in connection with Youm-e-Ali (AS) on 21st Ramazan, the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (AS), on Friday (today).

The main procession of Youm-e-Ali (AS) will be taken out from Nishter Park which after passing through its traditional route of Nishter Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Britto Road, MA Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, again MA Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Rampart Row Road and Nawab Mahabat Khanjee Road would culminate at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah, Kharadar at before Iftar near at 7:00 pm. The faithful will offer the Zuhr prayer at Main M A Jinnah Road organised by Imamia Students Organisation, where the worshippers will also stage a protest demonstration against the genocide of Muslims in Myanmar.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has directed the IGP Sindh and DG Sindh Rangers to make foolproof security across the province for the processions and Majalis of Youm-e-Ali (AS).

However, Majlis-e-Wehdat Muslimeen (MWM) has expressed its dissatisfaction over the security arrangements made by the law enforcement agencies in the metropolis to protect the martyrdom procession of Hazrat Ali (AS).

The MWM leaders in their statement said that Police and Rangers had not adopted the foolproof security measures in the metropolis to avoid any untoward situation, saying that the repairing of CCTV cameras just a day ago had exposed the security plan of the law enforcement agencies. They demanded the chief minister and governor to take notice of the tall claims of police and Rangers and adopt the foolproof security plan to foil any bid of terrorism on the procession of Youm-e-Ali (AS).

The Rangers and police held different meeting at their offices to finalise security arrangements to maintain law and order in the City for the occasion.

A Command and Control Room (C&C) set up in the Nishter Park for security and monitoring by Municipal Administration Jamshed Town would monitor the Youm-e-Ali processions with 21 CCTV cameras from the surroundings of Nishter Park to Capri Cinema. The security personnel would be deployed at high-rise structures situated on the routes of Youm- e-Ali (RA) processions. All routes of the Youm-e-Ali (RA) procession would be sealed while snap checking would also be conducted at different spots. The repairing of CCTV cameras installed at Main M A Jinnah Road for vigilance are being taken place just a day before the central procession.

The organisers of the Youm-e-Ali (AS) procession also setup the command and control cell of the community to monitor the procession with the help of 27 CCTV cameras. They also established their cell inside the Nishtar park where the central congregation of Youm-e-Ali (AS) will be held today and would be addressed by Maulana Shahan Shah Hussain Naqvi.

The Shia scouts and organisation informed TheNation that they had decided to deploy 4,000 volunteers in the procession to maintain the law and order situation.

Meanwhile, Police have deployed the containers en-route of Youm-e-Ali (AS) procession and completely sealed all the streets and roads linked to main MA Jinnah Road.

According to the plan, 400 officers and functionaries of Sindh Reserve Police, 360 police commandos and personnel from specialised units like SIU, AVCC and ACLC will be deployed at procession routes. Police have deployed more than 7000 personnel on the procession.

The 360 commandos will be deployed at the route of main procession to be taken out from Nishatar Park to Shah-e-Khurasan via Empress Market, Tibet Center, Kharadar and Boltan Market. Reviewing the security plan in a meeting with high ranking officials of his department, IGP Fayyaz Laghari directed to ensure availability of fire-brigade, ambulances and bomb disposal squad near the procession route.
