AC bus service begins today in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR - DCO Dr Muhammad Naeem Rauf said that CNG air-conditioned bus service will start function in the city from Friday (today) and it will run under the supervision of Bahawalpur Transport Company (BTCo).
Chairing a meeting here, the DCO directed the Traffic Police to launch a crackdown on all encroachments along the routes of the bus service and take all necessary steps to maintain a smooth flow of traffic in the city.
On the occasion, RTA Secretary Ibrahim Ghuman informed that five CNG AC buses would start functioning in the first phase while 10 other buses would be added to the fleet in the second phase.
He further told that the routes of the buses would start from Railway station, Circular Road, Farid Gate, Saddr Pulli until Yazman city while in the second phase; this bus service will be extended up to Hasilpur and Ahmedpur East. He said that the CNG buses would have a capacity for 65 people including 39 to have seating while the rest could travel by standing.
He said that the students of govt colleges and universities could get "Green Card." The student could download forms for the issuance of these cards from website and after attestation from their colleges, deposit it to the Director colleges. The Director Colleges will send the forms to DCO office from where "Green card" will issue to the students. Moreover, District Collector Ishtiaq Javed, Regional Transport Authority Secretary Ibrahim Ghuman, Assistant Commissioner Captain (r) Khalid Mehmood and DSP Traffic Taseer Dar attended the meeting.
