ASF thwarts gold smuggling bid

LAHORE - Foiling a bid to smuggle gold, the Airport Security Force (ASF) arrested a man and recovered 1.3kg gold from his baggage at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on Thursday.
Passenger Basit Ali, a resident of Lahore Clifton Colony, was trying to sneak onto a New York-bound PIA flight Pk-723 when an ASF official took him to a search counter.  During the search, the gold was found from his hand carrier bag. After recording of the weight of the gold and necessary action, the ASF has handed over the detainee to the Customs Anti-Smuggling authorities.
An ASF spokesperson said the price of seized gold was more than Rs 7million in the international market.
