LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that corruption-free, prosperous and strong Pakistan is the main aim of Pakistan Muslim League-N which is also committed to bring the country out of crisis under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

He said this while addressing office-bearers and workers of PML-N of district Multan, on Thursday.

He said PML-N strengthened the defense of the country and it would make it an economic power too. He said the rulers from Southern Punjab embezzled resources in the name of development of this region but did nothing for removing the backwardness of the area.

Punjab government gave special importance to the development of the Southern Punjab and billions of rupees were spent on development projects, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said it was essential to get rid of Zardari gang for saving Pakistan adding, the days of incapable rulers had been numbered. He said corrupt characters had been exposed and the nation has fully recognised their faces and would hold them accountable in the next general elections.

He reiterated that the hard earned looted money of the poor people will be recovered from plunderers and will be spent on provision of basic facilities to the masses.

The chief minister said solid steps had been taken for elimination of corruption from the province.

He said the development projects of provincial government were very transparent and no one could accuse us of corruption of even a single penny.

He said development funds of Rs 35 billion provided by the federal government for Multan city were embezzled in the form of corruption, kickbacks and bribery.

On the request of the workers, the chief minister announced financial assistance for those persons who have no concern with the business of fireworks but were killed as a result of blast of fireworks.

He said those workers who faced cruelties during dictatorial era and kept the flag of the party high, are our precious asset.

He said the workers were the power of the party and they had full right over it. He said the genuine problems of the workers would be solved on priority.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has invited Turks companies to invest in the energy sector of the province.

A delegation of Turk company OZPAK led by Mohibi met the chief minister on Thursday.

MNA Khawaja Muhammad Asif, MPA Meher Ishtiaq, Chairman LTC Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, MD Lahore Solid Waste Management, Chief Executive Officer LTC, Regional Director Pak-Turk Foundation Saadi Yildarir and concerned officials were present.

Talking to the delegation, the chief minister asked the Turk companies to invest in energy and theme park projects and said Punjab government was offering special incentives and facilities to foreign entrepreneurs in the energy development projects.

“Turk companies are investing in various sectors in Punjab and benefiting from the highly favorable atmosphere for investment and business existing in the province. The growing trade cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan is in the interest of the people of both the countries”, the chief minister added.

The Turk delegation expressed its interest in the projects of energy and theme park and informed the chief minister the modern system of cleanliness in Lahore was being further extended and the second and third phase of this system was being started while the forth phase would also be initiated within one month.

The chief minister directed Solid Waste Management (SWM) managing director to initiate the 2nd and 3rd phase of the system in Lahore from August 14.

He said the modern system of cleanliness would also be introduced in other big cities of Punjab and all preparation in this regard would be completed within the next three months.
