PESHAWAR - The Awami National Party sponsored energy conference on Thursday has suggested the federal government to decentralize the system of power generation and power distribution to provinces, aimed to diminish the hour long electricity outage.

“It is direly needed to manage power outage system on the basis of its generation and consumption as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have great contribution in national grad system,” Awami National Party Provincial President Senator Afrasiab Khattak remarked this while briefing the journalist regarding the recommendation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for overcoming the energy crisis.

The conference was attended by representatives of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, National Party, Tehrik Islami, Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and Pakistan People party.

Afrasiab said that that the power outages in the country were a national issue and it would be addressed though consultation and valuable suggestion of all the political parties but unfortunately all the opposition parties refused to attend the all parties conference under the label of ANP.

He said that in this conference the experts put forward valuable suggestion which would be presented to prime minister during a meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa representative delegation with him.

He said that the experts from WAPDA have recommended various projects, which consist of short-term and long-term plans.

He said that one hand the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government suffered in militancy while on the other hand the mismanagement in distribution of power added to the miseries of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people.

He proposed that special focus would be given on line losses and electric theft and this is the responsibility of WAPDA to strictly control recovery process.

He said that the short-term projects include production of electricity from gas and solar system.

The experts have also recommended that a huge quantity of gas, which emits in Nashfa project, can contribute to produce electricity.

He said that chief minister Ameer Haider han Hoti has directed the concern quarters to prepare the feasibility report of this project along with some other short term plane.

He said that a representative delegation of ANP and PPP from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will present these recommendations to Federal government to chalk out future line of action.

To a question that if the Federal government did not considered these recommendations then what will be the next step of ANP, Afrasiab said that they will convince Federal government upon these recommendations and soon positive outcome would be surfaced in the up coming days.

To another question regarding any solid steps to give immediate relief to the masses, he said that instead of long term hydro power project, they are thinking about short term planes which include solar energy system and Gas electricity.

Regarding the remaining arrears of the hydro profit, he also informed that Pakistan People Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter would support Awami National Party in senate to raise demands for the arrears of net hydel profit.
