QUETTA - Police foiled a terrorism bid by seizing an explosive laden-vehicle and other material in a raid carried out at the Eastern Bypass area in the outskirts of Quetta on Thursday.
According to officials, police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies on a tip-off jointly raided a house in Rindh Ghar and recovered an explosive laden vehicle.
They said during the search, police seized four cylinders filled with explosives, 37 different kinds of rockets, one suicide jacket, 15 remote-controlled locally made bombs, three SMG rounds, detonators and other arms meant to be used in subversive acts. “More than 4 dozen police uniforms were also recovered during the search,” a senior police official said and adding that three accused were also arrested in the raid.
However, the names of accused were not disclosed.
The bomb disposal squad defused explosives before police took them into their custody. “Accused wanted to use explosives for a big attack in Quetta which has been timely foiled,” a police official said.
Police moved the accused to some unidentified place for interrogation, which could lead to important revelations.
