NANKANA SAHIB - The basic health units have reportedly been devoid of medicines and doctors for more than six months contrary to the claim of the district officer (health) that the Punjab government had allocated Rs2.2 million for the 48 BHUs in Nankana district.

Most of the buildings of the units have been destroyed as they are not being looked after. Thousands of citizens have been deprived of basic health facilities which are supposed to be provided at the 48 BHUs in the district.

Different circles of local public have appealed to the Punjab chief minister to allocate more funds and audit the previous ones.

ABDUCTION:  Shakeela, 25, and her sister Jamila, 20, residents of village  Khanpur Shuhawan in the jurisdiction of Bargh Ghar police were abducted.

They have alleged been abducted Nazir Ahmed and Khalid on gunpoint from their home when their brother was busy in the fields for routine work.  The accused took them to Phool Nagar and police have registered the case against them.

Butcher held for selling unhygienic meat: Livestock Dr Aamer Saeed conducted raids at meat shops at Ramazan bazaars set up in Grain Market and arrested a butcher for selling unhealthy and unhygienic meat. He also seized more than 40-kg dead and unhygienic meat.

A special campaign is being run against the sale of unhealthy and unhygienic meat on the special orders of District Coordination Officer (DCO).

The butcher, Jamil, was challaned and arrested for selling unhealthy meat at Sasta Ramazan bazaar with fake slaughter house stamps, which he had brought from other cities. However, the authorities confiscated 40-kg of unhealthy meat recovered from the shop. The police have registered a case.
