MoU between USAID, KWSB


KARACHI - The US Assistance for International Development (USAID) has offered its cooperation to Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) for modernization of its pumping stations and minimising the energy expenditures.
A memorandum of understanding between the USAID and KWSB would be signed shortly. The US Consul for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Islamabad Jonathon Ward made such offer during his visit to Dhabeji Pumping Complex on Thursday. He was accompanied by Arif Pervez of USAID and Economic Officer of US Consulate in Karachi, KWSB Managing Director Misbahuddin Fareed, DMD Technical Services Ali Muhammad Palijo and other officials.
The US delegation inspected the pumping stations and exchanged views on improving the working of pumping machines and minimising their expenditures. The KWSB officials gave detailed briefing to the delegation on KESC power tariff, water quality being supplied to the areas especially the filtration method, distribution of water and the water shortage faced by the city.
It may be mentioned that different American teams had sought details from KWSB on energy crisis faced by the pumping stations and the USAID offer is follow up of those meetings.
