Measles is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus. The most common symptoms are fever, influenza and inflamed eyes etc. Many people die of this fatal illness. It affects 20 million people a year. Estimates show that in 2014, there were 114900 measles deaths globally, about 314 deaths every day and 13 deaths per hour. Moreover, the deadly disease is most common in developing countries. In Pakistan, every year 21000 children die of measles. Most of these children are the ones who haven’t received vaccination at an early age to prevent measles. The use of the measles vaccines resulted in a 79% drop in the number of causalities worldwide by 2014.I request the government to take serious steps for eradicating this disease.
