LAHORE A heinous case of moral bankruptcy was unearthed on Thursday night when a head constable of Mughalpura police station made a rape attempt on a lady constable of the same police station, TheNation has learnt reliably. The lady constable later identified as Haleema Bibi was transferred from Racecourse Women to Mughalpura police station on special duty of Muharam-ul-Harram some days back. Reliable sources said the woman officer was assigned special duty on Baqir Ul Aloom, where a Majlis was being held after 8 pm, on Thursday. I was sitting in police station when a head constable Imran Sindhu told me that he was assigned by SHO Mughalpura Rana Ghulam Abbas to drop her at Baqir Ul Aloom, she revealed to The Nation on Thursday night in Capital City Police Office (CCPO) at about 10 pm with tears rolling down on her cheeks. She further said the distance was hardly of 10 minutes but when Imran changed the way instead to go towards Baqir Ul Aloom she asked him where he was going on which he told her that Baqir Aloom was very far away from Mughalpura police station. He stopped his bike near Jallo Park at a barren place and made an attempt to rape me, she alleged. Haleema Bibi further revealed her ring and other small articles of her handbag were also scattered during his attempt. The lady constable alleged when she was in Police Lines, Nabi Ahmed Virk, Personal Staff Officer (PSO) to DIG Operations Rao Sardar Ali Khan, used to force her to fulfill his 'desires otherwise she would have to face the consequences. Using his powers Nabi got me transferred to Racecourse Police Station where SHO Azra continued marking my absent for many days giving a plea that DIG Operations had ordered her for doing so, she further alleged. She revealed Nabi Virk further threatened her and also managed to transfer her to Mughalpura police station where this incident took place. However a top police source said in fact she was raped but she was allegedly threatened by SHO and DSP for her dismissal if she made public the facts. Earlier, the lady officer immediately returned to Mughalpura police station where she talked to SHO Rana Abbas who allegedly threatened her forcing to remain mum over the situation and referred the case to DSP Mughalpura Aftab Ahmed Phulanwan. The DSP along with an SI Ashiq rushed to the office of SP Civil Lines Umar Saeed who had already been directed from CCPO Haji Mohammad Aslam Tareen to conduct the inquiry immediately, sources claimed. When contacted, Umar Saeed told this scribe that after inquiring thoroughly he has suspended Imran Sidhu and directed SHO Mughalpura to conduct a formal inquiry against him. However, showing dissatisfaction she appealed to the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court and IG Punjab to take a sue motto of her case against PSO Nabi Ahmed Virk and HC Imran Sindhu.
