Day against corruption observed

LAHORE Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Punjab Zone held a walk from it provincial headquarter to Regal Chowk on Thursday to observe International Anti-Corruption Day. Additional Director FIA Jawad Qureshi claimed to have recovered amount of Rs more than 3 billions, arrested 742 proclaimed offenders and 180 court absconders apart from the other important investigations during first eleven months of the year 2010. FIA staffers and people from different walks of life participated in the walk. The participants promised to increase their efforts for the eradication of corruption. FIA officials on this occasion also presented performance report of FIA Punjab during on going year. FIA Punjab while taking action against corruption and corrupt practices on the directions of federal government to eradicate corruption from government controlled departments has registered 2012 cases out of which FIA officials have finalised 2008 cases. During this period FIA Punjab also registered 4,181 inquiries out of which finalised 3,309 sent 2,584 cases to courts for legal proceedings out of which courts have convicted culprits in 1,482 cases. FIA Punjab also registered cases and held inquires of corruption including Operation Black Stone, Operation Railway Tender, Operation Gold, Operation National Insurance Corporation Limited, alleged plot about assassination of Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Gateway Exchanges, Operation Abdul Rauf, Operation PWD Tender, Operation Model Town and Operation Soneri-II..
