ISLAMABAD - PML-Q Secretary General, Mushahid Hussain Sayed has been awarded honorary degree of PhD in Political Science by the Royal Academy of Cambodia. The decision of awarding honorary degree to Mushahid was taken by the academician board of the Royal Academy on November 2. Mushahid Hussain personally travelled to Cambodia to receive the PhD degree on December 2. He has been honoured for his contributions to promoting the cause of Asian solidarity as well as promoting issues and ideas through various international fora in his capacity as an academic, journalist, political analyst and activist for Asian causes. During the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), which was attended by 89 political parties from 50 countries held concurrently in Cambodia, Mushahid Hussain was awarded the ICAPP Star of Achievements award, which was also given posthumously to Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan. The PPPs Senator Akbar Khawaja received the award on behalf of the PPP. In Cambodia, a new organization representing 26 centrist political parties, the Centrist Asia-Pacific Democrat International (CAPDI) was launched with Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, elected as its Chairman. Mushahid Hussain was unanimously elected as the first Secretary-General of this organization. During the conference, Mushahid Hussain was also the chairman of the Drafting Committee and his report of the conference titled, Asias quest for a better tomorrow was unanimously approved by the 300 conference participants representing 89 political parties of Asia.
