LAHORE PML-Q Senior Leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has flayed the Punjab government for what he stated its violent and inhuman handling of the protesting college teachers and students on the second consecutive day in different cities of the province. The former Punjab chief minister said by this brutal treatment with Punjabs teachers and students the self-styled Khadim-e-Ala was playing the role of Zalim-e-Ala (Chief Tyrant). Pervaiz Elahi expressed these views during a meeting with senior party members and representatives of PML Youth wing held on Thursday at his residence to discuss the implications of Shahbaz governments on-going violent campaign against the teachers and students of the province. Pervaiz Elahi termed the current violence against teachers and students a clear proof of the Punjab governments disregard for the sentiments of people. He said his government after declaring free education up to matriculation had also decided to make college education free but the present government was bent upon privatising colleges thus making higher education unaffordable for the poor students. He said Punjabs teachers and students had been protesting against the decision of handing over government-owned colleges to the boards of governors for the last seven months and their rally outside the Punjab assembly was meant to urge the elected representatives for a patient hearing of their demands. Pervaiz Elahi said the brutal treatment meted out to the protesting teachers and students outside the Punjab Assembly building was reflective of a despotic regime bent upon imposing its decisions on the masses. people of the province at all costs. He said Punjab was currently under a tyrannical rule which was constantly violating all democratic norms.
