LAHORE - A meeting of Punjab University (PU) Dean Committee was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor PU Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran in his office committee room here on Thursday. The meeting was held to honor the extraordinary achievement of PU Gujranwala sub-campus student Muhammad Inam who had won gold medal in wrestling in Commonwealth Games held in New Dehli as well as two students of PU Sports Sciences Department namely Nida Dar Rashid and Sania Iqbal Khan who are the members of Pakistan Women Cricket Team which had also won gold medal during the recent Asian Games Cricket Championship in China. Dr Kamran presented cheques worth Rs 0.1 million each to Muhammad Inam, Nida Dar Rashid and Sania Iqbal Khan in recognition of their remarkable sporting victory. Nida was declared best player of the Asian Games in cricket and also best player of the final against Bangladesh. Congratulating the PU students and their coaches, the VC expressed the hope that they would keep working hard to further improve their standard in the upcoming world competitions. He said the PU would hold a function at Faisal Auditorium soon after Muharram to honor the PU gold medalists in a befitting manner.
