An explosion in a car-park outside the venue of a public gathering, which was to be addressed by Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan in Charsadda’s Kulladher district, injured seven people on Monday.

Medical Superintendent of Charsadda hospital Dr Mohammad Nawaz while talking to media said that seven people, including two policemen, were injured in the explosion at a car park in Charsadda’s Kulladher area.

Security sources said that 500 grams of explosive material was used in the making of the remotely-detonated bomb.

The injured were shifted to District Headquarters hospital Charsadda where the condition of one wounded was reported as critical.

ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan was scheduled to address the public gathering and the blast occurred shortly before the formal launch of the event. ANP leaders had not arrived at the venue when the attack took place.

ANP spokesman Senator Zahid Khan said it was a planted device.  He said the militants consider ANP as the main hurdled in the implementation of their agenda in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa but the party would not bow down.
