WAZIRABAD - After an inquiry ordered by the SSP Railways, the Railways Police Wazirabad has found two cops of the Lahore Railways police guilty of taking bribe from a drug pusher and demanding more money from his accomplice.

According to police sources, Havaldar Javed Akhtar, constables Mukhtar Ahmad and Ali Hasnain were on duty on 39 up Jaffar Express from Sahiwal to Lalamusa. During checking in a compartment, they found 3-kg charas in a baggage of serviceman Muhammad Asim, who was traveling from Quetta to Lalamusa, and arrested him. A bargain between the accused and the police took place and the matter was settled in Rs30,000 cash and one kg of charas.

Asim asked his accomplice namely Naeem Khan to arrange the amount and collect the alcoholic substance at the Railways Station Lalamusa. After taking bribe and charas, the policemen allowed Asim to go but apprehended Naeem Khan and kept him at railways station. Meanwhile, the police contacted the relatives of Naeem and demanded Rs100,000 for his release. But his relatives informed the police of the issue. Seeing the district police, they railways policemen hid themselves and then a case (under 80/12 U/S 9-C) was registered with the Railways Police Station Wazirabad against Naeem Khan.

Naeem's relatives moved an application to the SSP Railways Lahore seeking justice. The SSP ordered an inquiry and named Inspector Muhammad Iqbal as Investigation Officer. Iqbal, after a thorough inquiry, found the policemen guilty and nominated them as accused in the same FIR and added more sections (221/161/409 PPC and 5/2/47) to the FIR.

Railways Police SHO Mian Faqeer Hussain arrested two has arrested the two accused the third one - Ali Hasnain - is still at large. Then the police got their 10-day physical remand from the court and recovered Rs10,000 out of the bribe from the accused.
