Violence continued holding its grip of the metropolis where at least six more persons including two rangers personnel were killed in different areas on Monday.

Meantime, Rangers claimed to have arrested 17 suspected criminals during their search operation in Mehmoodabad.

Two Ranger personnel were critically wounded when some identified gunmen opened fire on them at a picket at al-Asif Square. They were rushed to the hospital but succumbed to their wounds.  

A man was killed in a firing incident by unidentified miscreants in Nusrat Bhutto Colony.

A man Sheikh Nadeem was gunned down in an incident that took place in Jamshed Quarters area of Usmania Colony.

Some unknown gunmen opened gunfire in Gulbahar area of Khajji Ground, where a 50-year Syed Ali Abbas Naqvi was shot down. According to police sources, the deceased was an employee of bomb disposal squad.

A youth, Zahid was shot to death while he was at the doorstep of his residence located in Garden area. The deceased was scheduled to get married after a month.

Meanwhile, Rangers, taking Mehmoodabad areas in security cordon, conducted a search operation and arrested 17 criminal and seized 26 pistols, five sub-machineguns, one MP5 gun, two 8MM rifles, explosive material and a vehicle.

Reacting against the Rangers operation, the locality people blocked the road by setting tires ablaze. The demonstrators alleged that the troops took away with them the holders of licensed firearms.

At least 44 out of 50 people arrested from Mehmoodabad, have been released after interrogations.
