KARAK - The people of Banda Daud Shah blocked the Indus Highway at Jail Chowk for more than three hours to protest the low gas pressure of gas and non-availability of other basic amenities in the area on Sunday.

They blocked the traffic from Karachi to Peshawar. Hundreds of protestors led by district vice president of JI Tasleem Iqbal, member of district executive committee of Jamaitul Ulema Islam (Fazl) Qari Jehanzeb and Imtiaz advocate marched from Tehsil Banda Daud Shah in vehicular procession to Indus highway and blocked it at Jail chowk for all kinds of traffic. The protestors chanted slogans against the govt and the SNGPL and set three day deadline to resolve their problems otherwise they would besiege the Central Processing Facility (CPF) at Makori. While addressing to the protestors, the speakers claimed that they were forced to protest by the SNGPL as they have requested the district administration and elected representatives time and again to resolve their issues but not to no avail and warned that the elected representatives and the SNGPL should stop the divide and rule policy anymore. They said that today the entire Tehsil was on strike and there was complete shutter down strike in the Tehsil to record their protest against the injustices meted out to them. They regretted that oil and gas resources worth million of rupees produced by the Tehsil Banda Daud Shah on daily basis but the residents of the Tehsil were thirsting for soft drinking water in 21st century and the road leading to district headquarters from Banda Daud Shah was in extremely dilapidated conditions which clearly reflect the inefficiency of the elected representatives.

They said that they have no basic facility in the Tehsil and their royalty funds were being utilized somewhere else by those who were in power. The speakers said that they were making no more requests to resolve their basic problems rather they would snatch their rights from the usurpers.
