LAHORE - Gradual decrease in mercury levels, high humidity, lack of rains and environmental pollution is paving way for fog.
The situation is likely to worsen as no significant rain in the country in next 2-3 days. Poor visibility forced closure of Motorway from Lahore to Sheikhupura interchange in the wee hours. The Motorway Police, however, opened a portion for traffic after improvement in the visibility after sunrise. The police advised motorists to switch on fog lights and drive on slow speed. The visibility was also low on portions of GT Road. Weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country. However, isolated rain occurred in Malakand division and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In Lahore, maximum and minimum temperature was recorded 24 degree Celsius and 07 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 54 per cent. According to the experts, a shallow westerly wave is prevailing over northern parts of the country and is likely to persist during next two days. Local meteorological Department has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for most parts of the country. However, partly cloudy weather with chances of light rain is expected at isolated places of Malakand, Hazara divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.
