Khawaja Asif lays foundation stone of PAF Bholari base in Jamshoro

KARACHI: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif today laid the foundation stone of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Bholari base in Jamshoro.

He was the chief guest in the ceremony which was also attended by Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman.

While addressing the ceremony, Khawaja Asif said that development of PAF Bholari base will further strengthen aerial defence. He stated that the government and entire nation are proud of PAF’s dedication and devotion to the task of aerial defence, supporting sister services and the nation in different circumstances.

The Minister further said "I am glad that the leadership of PAF is fully mindful of the dynamic role of Air Power and challenges of 21st century".

He said that the federal government is fully cognizant of the needs and requirements of its Air Force and is committed to address all those requirements.

"I am sure, the development of this Base will bring along an era of progress to the area. Many civilian young men and women will get employment", he added.

The Air Chief also addressed the ceremony and said, "This earth breaking ceremony marks an event of strategic significance in defence of Pakistan. An air base at Bholari was one of the much needed and long awaited operational requirements of PAF. While Pakistan armed forces are continuously engaged in eliminating menace of terrorism, we must remain cognizant of the conventional threat. PAF and other services are fully aware of their responsibilities on multiple fronts", he said.

Air Marshal Ashfaque Arain, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Admin) gave the opening address and briefed the audience about the history of the project and significance of PAF Base Bholari.

The event was attended by a large number of dignitaries from government and civil organizations as well as high ranking officers from the armed forces.
