Islamabad - The Millennium University College (TMUC) and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) signed a landmark memorandum of understanding yesterday to establish a youth volunteers’ society at TMUC, H-11/4.
Pakistan Red Crescent Society, a statuary body constituted and governed by a parliamentary Act in 1947, is one of the largest organizations working for humanitarian causes in the country. The MoU reflects on the mutual commitment of both institutions to build awareness and a sense of responsibility amongst the youth towards the environment and their fellow citizens, says a press release issued here.
The chief guest for the occasion Dr Rizwan Naseer, Secretary General PRCS, and representatives were welcomed by the TMUC Dean of Academics Safia Farouqi, Head of International Programs Kholah Malik and members of the student council.
The formal ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Quran followed by a welcome speech by the TMUC dean of academics who familiarized the guests with the various international qualifications offered at TMUC while also shedding light on some of the exemplary works done by PRCS in times of disease and disaster.
Later in an interactive session Dr Naseer asked the students about their knowledge on civic duties while enlightening them on the subject. He emphasised that by educating and engaging youth in disaster response and health services, we can curb many human predicaments at their root. Students from various disciplines including Bachelors and Diploma programs keenly participated in the discussion.
The ceremony came to a close with the TMUC and PRCS heads signing a memorandum of understanding to pledge allegiance in humanitarian causes followed by the award of TMUC memento to the chief guest. The signing of the MoU reflects on the commitment of TMUC to develop the right set of skills, attitudes, knowledge and values within graduating Millennial so that they can confidently meet the global challenges of the 21st century.
