LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif has called for following the teachings of Islam in his message on International Human Rights Day. “The objective to celebrate this day is to highlight the importance of human rights and Hazrat Muhaammd (PBUH) gave universal and forever message of the human rights,” he said.

“Islam teaches us upholding the traditions of civil justice and peace. Islam teaches us respect for human rights and equality,” he added. He went on to say: “Ensuring human rights is the identity of a civilized society and protection of human rights is the top responsibility of state. Peace and human rights are connected and respect of human rights can be ensured through tolerance and forgiveness. “The Punjab government has taken practical steps to protect human rights. Legislation has been done to protect basic rights of women and eliminate harassment at the workplace.
