PESHAWAR -  Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed dissatisfaction over the federal government’s decision to abolish the Frontier Crimes Regulation from Federally Administered Tribal Areas and asked the government to take a clear stance about the implementation of FATA reforms and merge of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a news conference at Al-Markaz-e-Islami Peshawar on Saturday, Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ameer, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said that decision of the federal government about the repeal of FCR from FATA was still vague, as the government had made such announcements earlier but didn’t implement them.

He said that government’s announcement was the biggest success of the Jamaat-e-Islami, but he added that the plan of long-march to Islamabad for the merger of FATA with KP is unchanged, because it’s the voice of the entire nation. He alleged the federal government was intentionally creating hurdles in the way of merger of FATA with the tribal region.

He said the JI had announced to hold long-march and a three-day sit-in in Islamabad following the vague response of the federal government while the future course of action would be decided in the federal capital. He said that dozens of ‘sit-ins’ will be held at different spots during the long-march.

JI provincial chief said that around 10-member committees had been constituted for the long-march, which would be started from the historic Bab-e-Khyber on December 10 and later the participants will formally proceed onwards after holding a brief ‘sit-in’.

He said the long-march and sit-in will be held in a peaceful manner. However, he warned the federal government to refrain from taking any action against the peaceful demonstrators.

He said they had invited leaders of different political parties, tribal elders, as well as FATA parliamentarians to participate in the long-march. He said JI’s Central Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq will lead the long-march from Faizabad to D-chowk Islamabad, while JI parliamentary leader, Sahibzada Tariqullah, three provincial ministers, and MPAs would also be present on the occasion.

“We demand representation for Fata in the provincial assembly,” JI chief said and asked the government to announcement Rs100 billion package for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
