ISLAMABAD  - Right arm fast bowler M Amir Khan bowled his side to victory against AJK in the Pepsi-PCB Stars U-16 One Day Tournament 2017-18 match played here at Bhutto Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Peshawar skipper won the toss and opted to field first in slightly overcast conditions. His decision paid off, as AJK could score 170-9 in 40 overs. Saqlain Gillani was the star attraction as he made stylish 60 with the help of 8 fours. Shan Khan made 40. M Amir took 3 for 23 while M Umair and Adnan Akbar took 2 wickets each conceding 8 and 13 runs each.

Chasing 171 runs for victory, Peshawar were in huge trouble as they had lost 4 wickets with just 58 runs on the board. But first Abbas Ali held the innings together with gutsy 53 and then some power hitting by M Zulfiqar, who remained unbeaten at 32 and Zain Khan, who also scored unbeaten 21, Peshawar achieved the target in 35.3 overs. Zain hit a massive six to finish the game. It was third straight victory for Peshawar, who had only lost to Karachi. It is quite strange that PCB doesn’t bother to pay any heed towards highlighting U-16 cricket, as media department never bothered to issue press release, like they did in other formats. It is need of the hour, the PCB must wake up and Ali Zia must ensure scorecard must be released, so that these aspiring kids can get due recognition.
