The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general visited various private hospitals on Sunday to make a report on building violations.  This report will be submitted to the Supreme Court. The LDA DG, Amna Imran Khan, said illegal constructions built in the name of hospitals would be demolished soon. “Correctable violations would be corrected and uncorrectable violations committed by private hospitals would be demolished,” Amna said. She said the committee constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan for preparation of a report on violations of building by-laws by private hospitals in Lahore would soon submit its report to the court. Parking issues around hospitals are main problem on which the DG said areas around the hospitals would be retrieved and separate allocation for parking would be ensured. It is pertinent to mention that Supreme Court of Pakistan has constituted a committee to irregularities committed by private hospitals. DG LDA along with Dr Munawar, Dr Rashid, Dr Farooq, Baristor Khuram Raza, Waqar A Sheikh, Chief Town Planner LDA Syed Nadeem Akhter Zaidi visited the Doctors Hospital Cnala Road, Umar Hospital and Mid City on Jail Road.  She informed that a residential purpose building was merged in Doctors Hospital main building violating the rules. She also sought report from MD Wasa about the situation of Doctors Hospital drainage. She told that the compoundable violations of building bylaws will be compounded under the law whereas the non-compoundable violations will be demolished or removed. DG LDA said Mid City Hospital and Umar Hospital that has placed generators outside the hospital would become potential cause for blockade of emergency exits and other untoward incidents. –Staff Reporter
