Calling Pakistans anti-militancy effort over the last year as terrific, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has said Pakistanis are in the drivers seat in combating terrorists on their soil. Pakistan, he said, would carry forward the fight at its own pace and in its own way. In an interview with FOX News, Gates also reaffirmed Washingtons confidence in the safety of Pakistani nuclear weapons. Theyre going to do at their own pace and in their own way. We will help them as much as possible, he remarked about Pakistans efforts in the interview shown Tuesday.
