LAHORE Expressing deep regret over the attack on Sheikh Rashid and deaths of his companions, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that a joint investigation team comprising central and provincial agencies including ISI, IB and CID has been constituted which will investigate into the matter impartially. He said that necessary measures would be taken in the light of its report. He said that he immediately telephoned Sheikh Rashid and inquired about his health as soon as he heard about the tragic incident. He said that he also directed Rawalpindi administration to provide treatment facilities to the injured. The Chief Minister further said that he said that though every Pakistani is sad over the loss of human lives but the political allegations and point scoring should be avoided. He said that the PML-N believed in peace and its track record was a proof of this fact. He said that PML-N had a democratic and political force and there was no truth in the allegations levelled against it. He said that PML-N was concerned over reports of the Federal Government regarding terror attacks, therefore it had approached the courts for getting the elections delayed. He said that as far as security arrangements for Shiekh Rashid are concerned, he was provided complete security not only at his house but also at his public meetings. He said that Rashid had informed the administration about public meetings to be held at two places yesterday where the security arrangements had been made but later he changed his programme and went to somewhere else in connection with his election campaign. Therefore, the incident took place. He said that a SP, a DSP, an inspector, two sub-inspectors and 35 constables were deputed to provide him security.
