ISLAMABAD The killing of PPP-AJK activist, who was gunned down in federal capital at a polling station, goes shrouded in mystery as some circles are claiming that he was killed by a worker of PPP instead of Muslim Conference. An activist of PPP-AJK, Captain (R) Tariq, was shot dead in the clash of the two parties workers at a polling station in Sector G/6 during LA-40 AJK by-polls on Sunday. The clash was caused when MC activists accused President Asif Ali Zardari of backing PPP-AJK for rigging purposes in by-polls. On this, workers of both parties chanted slogans against each other and later their words war turned into a battlefield as they threw chairs and pelted stones at one another. Finally, the scene turned ugly when both parties resorted to firing with 30-bore pistols. During this gun battle, a bullet hit PPP-AJK worker, Capt (R) Tariq, killing him on the spot. Later, PPP-AJK lodged an FIR of murder against 9 MC workers including its two ministers. However, since the day MC leaderships has been denying involvement of it activists in the killing of PPP worker. Sources in police said that a sketch of a man who had opened fire on PPP-AJK activist was also been penned which indicated the killer allegedly belonging to PPP, however, the police source quickly added that further investigations were underway in this regard. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Aamir Ali is also conducting an inquiry into the incident, which would be submitted today (Wednesday) to Interior Ministry. Mushtaq Hussain adds: PPP-AJK leadership has demanded immediate arrest of accused nominated in the murder of Capt (R) Tariq who was shot dead on Sunday in a clash with Muslim Conference workers during by-polls at a local polling station. While addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, PPP-AJK leadership accused Pakistan Muslim League-N of backing Muslim Conference workers for Sunday incident leading to the assassination of PPP worker. President PPP AJK Ch Abdul Majeed, General Secretary Ch Latif Akbar, Vice president Ch Yasin and others were present on the occasion. They demanded of Interior Minster to take personally probe the incident. Expressing concern over the performance of police Majeed lamented that not a single accused has been arrested despite the lapse of four days. PPPs other leaders demanded of the high-ups of the Interior Ministry and Islamabad police for the early arrest of all the accused nominated in FIR. They termed the delay in arrest of the accused as destabilising political set up of AJK. PPP AJK also demanded re-election for LA-40 under the foolproof security. They further said before the incident, their workers were killed by the Muslim Conference in different parts of AJK including Hatian Bala, Khoi Rata and Kotli district of AJK. Such incidents would not be acceptable to the party at all, they added rejecting any judicial inquiry into the murder case. It may be recalled here that FIR of the incident was registered against 9 MC workers including its two ministers but no arrest was made so far. Meanwhile, PPP AJK condemned Mondays attack on Sheikh Rasheed Chief Awami Muslim League in Rawalpindi.
