ISLAMABAD A strong rumour was in air in the federal capital Tuesday evening that Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has furnished his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari. Although the Finance Minister did not respond phone calls as well as SMS, Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar categorically denied any such development. He termed it a mere rumour rather than calling it a baseless news item. He also referred to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet meeting that was held under the Chairmanship of Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin. Meanwhile, sources in the government told TheNation that the differences persist between Tarin and Water and Power Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf over the issue of Rental Power Projects. The sources said Tarin has been insisting implementation of the third partys validation report by the Asian Development Bank on the RPPs. Tarin, according to the sources, has also objected to the reported misleading the federal cabinet about the ADB report by the Water and Power Minister.
