LAHORE - At least six members of a family got serious burn injuries when a man threw acid on them over a petty issue in Ravi Road area on Sunday.
Police said Nasir, a resident of Badami Bagh, was an addict and involved in various crimes. He contracted marriage with Sakeena Bibi some 10 years ago. The couple developed differences later and separated.
After the separation, Sakeena, the victim lady, started living with her parents in Ravi Road area. She filed dissolution of marriage in the court submitting that her husband was a cruel man and used to beat her on petty issues, so she wanted divorce.
However, Nasir, the accused, went to see her at her parents’ home and requested her to go with him. Police said, Sakeena refused to go with him. At this, Nasir became furious and he threw acid on his wife Sakeena, son Ibrahim, sister-in-law Rasheeda BB and other four relatives and escaped from the scene.
Number of people rushed to the scene and informed rescue team that shifted all injured to Mayo hospital where Sakeena bibi and her son Ibrahim were said to in a critical condition.
Police registered FIR no.93/14 against him under section 336-B, 324 of Cr.PC and 7ATA of Anti-Terrorism Act and started raiding at different places to arrest him.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and sought the report from the authorities concerned and directed for stern action against the accused Nasir and to bring him to justice.
