ISLAMABAD - The Interior Ministry has withdrawn the summary of three officers for the slot of next Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) yesterday, The Nation has learnt reliably.

Sources told The Nation that Interior Ministry wrote a letter to Establishment Division on Tuesday and asked the Division to stop the process on next DG FIA till next summary. They said that Establishment Division admitted the request of Interior Ministry and sent the summary of officers back to the ministry.

Earlier, the Interior Ministry moved a summary of three PSP officers to Establishment Division for getting the formal approval of appointment from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for next DG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The summary carries the names of grade 22 officer Iqbal Mehmood, Nasim-uz-Zaman, Additional IGP Punjab and Captain (Retd) Abid Qadri, a grade 21 officer, currently serving as Additional Director General of FIA. All the three officers enjoy good repute.

Sources said that the Interior Ministry just wrote a one liner letter to the Establishment Division without any reason behind withdrawal of the summary.
