A suspect, later identified as to be a notorious dacoit, was shot dead by his accomplices here at Handal Chowk on Kasur Road in the remit of Kot Radha Kishan the other day.

According to Kasur DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, a man who introduced himself as Nawaz made an emergency on Helpline No 15, informing the police about intense firing at Handal Chowk on Kasur road. He said that the local police responded promptly and rushed to the spot where they found a man in injured condition. The police officer claimed that the injured introduced himself as Muhammad Mansha alias Lashkar who was a wanted a dacoit. “He along with his other gang members had planned a robbery but a disagreement developed among them which led an armed scuffle,” the DPO quoted the accused as saying. He said that the accused fired gunshots on each other due to which Mansha got severe injuries. Mr Rizvi informed that the accused had confessed to have been involved in more than 10 heinous cases of robbery, dacoity, theft and illegal weapons cases in Okara, Pakpattan and Kasur districts. He was shifted to hospital but succumbed to his injuries, the DPO said. The police recovered a pistol from the spot and launched a search for the fleeing accused.
