LAHORE - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan approved the 15-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in Bangladesh and ICC World Twenty20 in India.

The entry of Test opener Khurram Manzoor, who, despite brilliant performances, was not considered for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), but all of a sudden, he was inducted in the national squad for the all important Twenty20 events which is really surprising move by the selectors.

All-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed, who is representing Karachi Kings in the ongoing PSL, also made way to national squad which is another surprising move by the selectors. But the good moves by the selection committee came to front were inducting the emerging talented players Rumman Raees and M Nawaz. Left-arm medium pacer Rumman, who has been representing Islamabad United in the PSL, has managed to impress the selectors through his sterling performances during the PSL, and it is hoped that he will play his vital role during the upcoming Twenty20 events. The superb performances of all-rounder M Nawaz for Quetta Gladiators in the PSL have also won the hearts of the selectors, who gave him nod of approval to exhibit his prowess at the Asia Cup and World T20. Both the young blood replaced Umar Gul and Sohaib Maqsood owing to their poor form.

Kamran Akmal, who was expected to make the comeback, was also not selected in the side while his younger brother Umar Akmal got another chance. All-rounder Sohail Tanveer was also dropped from the squad as the selectors had plan of giving chance to young blood as well top performers of domestic cricket and the Pakistan Super League.
