LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here today assured Joint Action Committee of conveying their concerns on the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his return from the current two-day visit of Qatar.

The Chief Minister heard point of view of the six-member Delegation of the Committee and promised to urge the Prime Minister for reversing action of sacking, transfer and notices to the striking PIA employees and halting implementation of order with immediate effect.

Sources say the Chief Minister brought home to the Committee, led by its Chairman Capt (retd) Sohail Baloch, the necessity of privatizing a part of the PIA and its current debt-ridden plight. Sources say the meeting also decided that the Committee will also meet Federal Finance Ministry Ishaq Dar for addressing concerns on both sides. The Committee agreed to help restore full fledged operation of PIA and not allow any employee to go on strike, sources said adding, the meeting ended on a pleasant note to do what will in the best interest of the country, Airlines and the employees.
