KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) nominee for the slot Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar has said that his party will move the Supreme Court, if powers were not devolved to the local government representatives.

“The local government polls took place under the Supreme Court order orders. Powers are not being devolved to the LG representatives. We will resort to the SC under clause 140-A to get orders for devolution of powers to local governments across Pakistan,” he said while talking to media persons outside the Sindh High Court today.

He alleged that false cases have been instituted against him. “These cases would soon be disposed of stand. Around 15 to 20 cases are being registered against me every month,” he said. “A treason case is registered against us even if we clap,” he said adding that he hoped that the judiciary will do justice with him.
