PESHAWAR - The Young Doctors Association (YDA) in all the three major teaching hospitals of Peshawar continued their strike on Tuesday.

The protest was held against the PTI-led government for ignoring their demands, mainly the announcement of service structure and raise in wages of trainee medical officers.

The doctors affiliated with the YDA stayed away from the outpatients department (OPD), operation theatres and wards in the Lady Reading Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex and Khyber Teaching Hospital and only attended emergency services to register their protest against what they called the non-serious attitude of the provincial government towards resolution of their problems.

As a result of the strike, thousands of patients coming from far off areas of the province for medical treatment had to return disappointed.

A number of patients, including women and children faced hardships, as doctors associated with the Young Doctors Association went on strike to press the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to fulfil their demands.
